2022-23 School Year: What was most represented ethnicity in McIntosh County schools?

Among the many ethnicities represented in McIntosh County schools, white was the most prevalent among McIntosh County students in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Of the 1,246 students attending McIntosh County schools, 48.8% were white. African American students were the second most common ethnicity, making up 40.4% of McIntosh County student body.

In the previous school year, white students were also the most common group in McIntosh County, representing 50% of the student body.

In the 2022-23 school year, the total number of students enrolled in public schools in the county increased 2.1% when compared to the previous year.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1, which is better than the national average of 16:1. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
